Hydrogenation

Asymmetric hydrogenation is a key strength of CPS-Chirotech. Over the last 15 years we have developed a multitude of processes using this technology. Our collection of proprietary asymmetric hydrogenation catalysts comprises both our own systems and several powerful in-licensed catalytic technologies. We have the ability to rapidly screen over 400 preformed catalysts for process development.

CPS-Chirotech has a worldwide exclusive license from DuPont for the DuPhosTM/BPE family of asymmetric hydrogenation ligands for use in pharmaceutical applications. In addition we have developed a range of catalysts including the FerroTANE™ ligand series, which give superior performance against a number of substrate types

Since December 2000, we have licensed from the Japan Science and Technology Corporation, the technologies of Professors Noyori and Ikariya for the hydrogenation of ketone functionality. With single-isomer chiral ligands, the ruthenium catalysts can be used at exceedingly low loadings (e.g. S/C 100,000) to deliver high enantiomeric excess secondary alcohols. A particularly valuable ligand for this technology is PhanePhos, where CPS-Chirotech has a license from Merck Inc.

CPS-Chirotech has developed the commercial manufacture of ligands and storage-stable pre-catalysts and has proven these technologies in multiple commercial API manufacturing opportunities.
