Phase Transfer Catalysis (PTC)

CPS-Chirotech has developed PTC methodology for a number of products and we have applied this to the multi Kg manufacture of several complex dialkylamino acids.

Asymmetric PTC methodology employs the use of a chiral catalyst, often a quaternary ammonium salt, to catalyse the enantioselective preparation of the target compounds. One of the best known uses of this technology is for the preparation of amino acids via the C-alkylation of glycinate or alaninate imines, where a wide variety of alkylating agents can be tolerated.

We have found phase transfer processes to be readily scalable. This combined with the mild reaction conditions employed and environmental benefits of the reagents used, has resulted in PTC becoming an important addition to our technology portfolio.
